On January 6th, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey released more than 100 Terabytes of astronomical data to the public. The twelfth such release by SDSS astronomers since the project began in 2000, the data contains astronomical measurements of more than half a billion stars and galaxies that can now be accessed the world over by astronomers, astrophysicists, and the public.
