Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

Film Festivals and Screenplay Development

The Foundation's Film Festivals and Screenplay Development program is comprised of three film festival partners--Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Hamptons International Film Festival--along with Film Independent. The festivals offer feature film prizes, screenplay readings, panels, and receptions, and work to highlight outstanding feature films that dramatize science effectively. Increasingly they are focused on developing feature-length screenplays that can be produced and released theatrically. The festival partners act as a development pipeline or “farm system” so that one project may receive support from several partners at different stages of development.
