Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

Film Festivals and Screenplay Development

The Foundation's Film Festivals and Screenplay Development program comprises five partners—Sundance Institute, Tribeca Film Institute, Film Independent, San Francisco Film Society, and The Black List—including three film festivals. The three festivals offer feature film prizes, screenplay readings, panels, and receptions, and work to highlight outstanding feature films that dramatize science effectively. All five partners are focused on developing feature-length screenplays that can be produced and released theatrically. These five collaborators act as a development pipeline or “farm system” so that one project may receive support from several partners at different stages of development.
