Other Grants in Synthetic Biology

In the spring of 2006, Sloan awarded an officers grant to the University of California at Berkeley to provide partial support for the Second International Conference on Synthetic Biology in May 2006 (SB 2.0), http://syntheticbiology.org/Conferences.html. Later in 2006, the Foundation provided an officers grant to CRAIC Computing to support the development of the Blackwatch software to identify hazardous DNA sequences, https://biotech.craic.com/blackwatch/introduction.html.  In 2007, the Foundation awarded a small grant to the Venter Institute to support a workshop on technical challenges to identifying potentially hazardous DNA synthesis orders. The Foundation also provided partial support for the third international conference, SB 3.0.
