Community of Scholars

To build a community of scholars, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation pursued a number of directions to develop the interdisciplinary infrastructure essential to building a work-family field in which scholarship crosses disciplinary boundaries.

• The development of the Sloan Work and Family Research Network
• The support of over 20 interdisciplinary conferences at both the national and international levels
• The publication of quarterly online newsletters and special issues of peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of the American Academy of Poilitical and Social Sciences, Journal of Work, Family and Community; and Discourse and Society
