Gail M. Pesyna and A. Frank Mayadas, Program Directors
Industry Studies Affiliates Program Affiliates of the Sloan Industry Studies program are faculty members, research staff, and post-docs working in a wide range of academic disciplines and industry specializations. The Program is open to scholars who seek to ground academic research in deep knowledge of a particular industry or industries. The work of many industry studies scholars is characterized by direct personal investment in observation-based research and/or direct communication with people in industry, and the program welcomes any scholar who takes this approach. The program likewise welcomes scholars who have complementary interests, which may mean working with observation-based researchers or building on the findings of observation-based research. Quantitative and qualitative research methodologies are equally valued, and communication across disciplinary boundaries is encouraged. Communication within the Industry Studies program is facilitated by the network's listserv, and Affiliate status automatically provides membership in the listserv. In addition to serving as a forum for ideas and discussion, the listserv helps to provide notification of workshops and other research opportunities, meetings, and special events that may be organized by any of the Industry Centers or other Industry Studies Affiliates. Industry Studies Affiliates are encouraged to participate in various programs, such as the Industry Studies Annual Conference, and to take advantage of grant opportunities to further their research. Information on how to join the Industry Studies Affiliates program along with a detailed program description can be found online.
