Industry Studies Networking Grants

Networking Grants are available to Industry Studies Affiliates to promote additional research sharing among members of the industry studies community on particular industries or cross-cutting industry topic areas.  The goal of this program is to encourage the development of mature research networks among like-minded scholars. Normally, networking events will involve the presentation of formal research papers; however, alternative program formats may be appropriate in some circumstances.

The size of the grant available for this purpose will depend on the number of scholars involved and meeting costs.  If, say 6-8 scholars are involved, grants may range up to $10,000 depending on anticipated expenses for lodging, etc., which would, of course, be tied to the number of days envisioned for the activity.  Events involving a larger number of scholars may entail grants up to $15,000 maximum, again depending on the anticipated expenses.

Industry Studies Affiliates interested in applying for a Networking Grant should send a brief letter proposal (1-2 pages), describing the purpose of the networking activity (i.e., industry to be studied or topic area to be addressed), names of all participants, and the amount requested to the Industry Studies Committee at the following email address: IndustryStudiesCommittee@sloan.org.  If you have any further questions, please contact Gail Pesyna (pesyna@sloan.org), or Frank Giarratani (frankg@pitt.edu).

Please note that all participants funded by these grants must be associated with industry studies as Center-based scholars or as Industry Studies Affiliates. If you wish to include a scholar who is not yet affiliated with industry studies, please indicate this on your participant list, and an invitation will be sent out so that he/she may become an Affiliate if appropriate.
