Retention of Students in Higher Education
Ted Greenwood, Program Director

The goals for the retention program are to improve understanding of the factors underlying undergraduate and graduate completion rates and to encourage individual campuses to collect and make visible undergraduate and graduate completion rates and time-to-degree.

In pursuit of the first goal we will share research results with willing campuses and interested national higher education organizations and seek opportunities to encourage the collection and publication of completion rate and time-to-degree data.  We hope that the findings from this research will enable interested institutions and faculty to implement changes that will increase completion rates where they are too low.  In pursuit of the second goal we will work, if possible, with national higher education organizations that are increasingly interested in these issues.

Until recently we also funded interventions that would improve undergraduate or graduate completion rates, especially for women and minorities, but we are no longer doing so.
